The first part of the three-volume edition consists of four chapters and supplement.
Chapter I. Chronicle presents a timeline of events based on the documents related to the cults of the sacred animals, synodal decrees, royal edicts, biographies of the nobles, letters and other sources that focus mainly on the activities of the Egyptian priesthood and state of the sanctuaries. The chronological framework of the documents under study spans the period from 1070 BC to 452 AD.
Chapter II. Documents from Bucheum includes translations of twenty hieroglyphic stelae dedicated to the sacred animals dating from 347 BC to 340 AD.
Chapter III. Records of renep-priests contains translations of ten sources belonging to the specific priesthood in the 3rd nome of Lower Egypt and dating from the VII–I centuries BC.
Chapter IV. Documents from the Memphite Serapeum contains translations of about forty hieroglyphic, demotic and hieratic inscriptions dedicated to the sacred Apis bulls and cows, mothers of Apis, with related documents, dating to the VIII–I centuries BC.
Supplement contains a list of the Memphite high priests (XI–V century BC); a list of the names of the pharaohs from Nectanebos I to Ptolemy XV focusing on the meaning and epithets translated; a selection of ancient coins with royal portraits from Alexander the Great to Cleopatra VII.
